Roger Penske announced today that he has signed 18 year Ryan Blaney to drive
the 22 dodge challenger for three races. His schedule includes two races with
Discount Tire: Aug. 4 at Iowa, Sept. 22 at Kentucky; and one race with Snap-On:
Sept. 7.
This young add comes less than 24 hours after I said that Penske Racing
needed a bright, young driver to develop. This is their man. The "Buckeye Badass"
is only 18 years old and has seen success ever since he has jumped in a stock
car. Last year Ryan gave Ty Dillon a run for his money at Lucas Oil Raceway in an
ARCA race, then won the K&N pro series West race at Phoenix.

When he started his part time K&N East campaign this year he has looked
GOOD. Ryan had a good car at Bristol until he traded fenders with Chase
Elliott and spun out. He impressed me again with a 7th place finish in his Nationwide series
debut at Richmond. The thing that gives him more potential is that he was
driving for Tommy Baldwin Racing. Imagine what he can do in the September
Richmond race on his schedule. Now that he is driving the 22, he will be my
dark horse pick.
Thinking past 2012, I think if Ryan Blaney performs well in his three races,
I believe he will split the Nationwide Series schedule in 2013 with Brad
Keselowski or Trevor Bayne (Pending him going to Penske). With that I say Ryan
Blaney has a bright future, which may bring him straight to the Cup Series. The
"Buckeye Badass" has a very bright future.
